In 1950, Bulova worked on a technology that increased the autonomy and accuracy of watches, the two weak points of mechanical watches at the time. Accutron stands for “ACCUracy through ElecTRONic.”

That innovation was the world’s first electronic watch that worked with a tuning fork and a transistor movement capable of achieving an unprecedented accuracy of one minute per month. This model brought fame and success to Bulova, and the piece was even worn by American astronauts when they traveled to the Moon on the Apollo 15 mission in 1971. In 2008, the Citizen Group acquired Bulova.

Today, Bulova owns several brands to meet the needs of a wider range of customers, including the renewed Accutron brand, which has thrived in the past few years and stands out in modern watchmaking.
