H. Moser & Cie. Launches Two Timekeeping Watches For Alpine Racing, Including Its First Smartwatch
Let’s ask the question: Do smartwatches have a place in sports? Now in the case of a marathoner pacing her splits or the tennis pro reviewing performance metrics, such tools have transformed training across disciplines. But in motorsports? Historically, it’s been mechanical chronographs that set the gold standard.
The tachymeter scale, long before data logging was a thing, let drivers and teams manually calculate speed over distance. Chronographs like the Rolex Daytona, the TAG Heuer Monaco, or the Omega Speedmaster were the among the original timekeepers of velocity, measuring fractions of seconds that separated glory from gravel. To be a racer in the ‘60s or ‘70s meant trusting the gears on your wrist as much as the ones under your hood.

In February 2024, H. Moser & Cie announced its partnership with Alpine Motorsports, becoming its official timekeeping partner across all of Alpine’s racing programs. There’s personal history here, too. The Meylan family, who owns H. Moser & Cie., has long raced and collected Alpine cars.
H. Moser & Cie’s new special chronographs for F1 race weekend
Timed to the Spanish Grand Prix running this weekend (30 May-1 June), H. Moser & Cie. is pulling the wraps off two new creations from its partnership with Alpine Motorsports: the Streamliner Alpine Drivers Edition and the Streamliner Alpine Mechanics Edition, the latter a connected tool watch built specifically for use behind the scenes in the pit lane.

H. Moser & Cie Streamliner Alpine Mechanics Edition uses Bluetooth Low Energy 5.3 connectivity to ensure seamless pairing with both iOS and Android devices

A subdial at 12 o’clock is designed with a fumé dial in Funky Blue, along with the “H. Moser & Cie” in transparent lacquer
The Mechanics Edition runs on a connected movement, Calibre DI0, developed in collaboration with Swiss tech firm SEQUENT. Measuring 32.5mm by 33.9mm and just 6.9mm thick, the digital module displays a split-seconds chronograph, perpetual calendar, GMT, even a custom F1 mode with countdowns to race weekends. Main hours are read off both a discreet “magic” digital display at 6 o’clock and traditional analog hours against a domed Funky Blue fumé dial beneath the black screen.
The Drivers Edition is a mechanical chronograph built with a skeletonised version of the AgenGraphe movement, developed in collaboration with Agenhor. Unlike your typical chronograph configurations, there’s no subdials, and V-shaped bridges echo suspension arms, a helmet-shaped central bridge, and a rotor inspired by the Alpine A110’s wheel rim.

That’s not to say H. Moser & Cie. doesn’t get the brief. Here, Moser presents both sides of the debate: a strikingly modern chronograph that pays homage to traditional mechanical watchmaking, and a smart, connected timepiece designed specifically for the fast-paced, data-driven world of Formula 1.
